FKA Twigs’ Calvin Klein Advertisement Banned in United Kingdom for Portraying Her as ‘Sexual Object’

FKA Twigs is facing censorship over her appearance in a Calvin Klein advertisement in the United Kingdom.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned an ad featuring the singer wearing a denim shirt wrapped around her and exposing the right side of her body.

“We therefore concluded the ad was irresponsible and likely to cause serious offense,” they added.

The ad’s banning comes after only two people complained that the images were “overly sexualized” and objectified women.

Twigs responded to the ban in a post on Instagram, writing: “i do not see the ‘stereotypical sexual object’ that they have labelled me.

Calvin Klein defended the Twigs ad in a statement, claiming her poses were “natural and neutral.”
